The LBD – an instant classic and must-have staple in every chic gal’s wardrobe – what could be a better go-to this holiday season? The Little Black Dress is the perfect option when you’re not sure what to wear – throw one on with some fabulous jewels and sassy stilettos, and you are stylin’. As you prepare for the next two weeks of holiday and New Year’s parties galore, don’t forget to stop by Lamar Park to check out our outstanding selection of LBDs to keep you looking extraordinary for the rest of 2009 and well into the new year! We have the best of the bunch, and these dresses are, in the words of Christian Siriano, fierce!
This season designers featured an abundance of LBDs, but stick the basics they did not. Unique embellishments, new fabrics and unexpected fits ruled the runways. Here are a few of our faves.
Goosefeather’s Karille mini dress is super sassy and the perfect party dress for the holidays. Black tights and heels? Done. Market has an abundant selection of LBDs – how lucky for us! Their beaded plunge-front maxi dress is so fabulous and the plunging neckline is so slimming, love it! Deceivingly simple, Cooper’s black silk dress has gorgeous pleating and ruching in all the right places. LBDs with extra detailing are all the rage right now, and both Jenny Han’s black dress with gold trim and the silver beaded tunic dress take basic black to the next level.
For a more traditional look, the black dresses at the LOFT are a perfect fit and flattering on anyone – nothing says “I’ve got style” like great tailoring and an amazing fit.
And, don’t worry mammas; we would never leave you out – just because you have a baby on board does not mean you have to put fashion by the wayside! The ruffle-sleeved sheer black dress at Belly & Baby and Hopscotch is the perfect LBD for showing off a cute baby bump and toned arms!
Don’t think we would let you leave without the perfect accessories to kick up your LBD – Market, Chico’s, Francesca’s, Julian Gold and Goosefeathers all have the most amaaaaaazing shoes, jewelry or bags to keep you looking fabulous. So use your time wisely this weekend, and go pick up a wardrobe staple you know you’ll wear forever. Have a fabulous weekend, and I’ll see ya’ll next week!

More than receiving gifts, there is nothing better than giving the perfect present to someone you love. Watching a loved one’s eyes and a big smile light up their face is perhaps the most heartwarming experience you could possibly have during the holidays. Okay, I admit it – I’m a little behind on my Christmas shopping this year, so I am ever-so-thankful for Lamar Park because when I visit next Tuesday (look for me – I’ll be around all day!), I know I will find something for everyone.

I think for my roommate, I’ll get this Evertt Locardi vintage turquoise necklace from Goosefeathers – we both love statement jewelry, and this way, we will be able to share! And, did you know this is Goosefeathers’ own line? Yep, that’s right. Definitely one-of-a-kind! For one of my girlfriends, I’ll pick up this multi-colored scarf at Pilar – she loves using scarves to spice up her wardrobe, and I think this one is just beautiful. For my mom, definitely the multi-colored plates from Gourmet and Gadgets…anything for her kitchen, I know she will love! And, they even have matching coffee mugs! My godsons will adore these Sock monkey tees from Belly & Baby and Hopscotch and the Elf on the Shelf children’s book from Four Chicks in the Park (both are selling out everywhere!) – one for each! And I think their moms will enjoy the Hooter Hiders too!

The Deux Lux bags, wallets and clutches at Market are the perfect gift for any fashionable gal, and what a great price for such fabulous accessories! For the label-lover, these makeup bags from Julian Gold are the perfect special gift for someone without ruining your holiday budget – and in purple, my fave! For the interior decorator, stop by Francesca’s too – look at their gorgeous wall décor – the perfect addition to any room. And, while you’re there, you can pick up some of the other fabulous accessories they always seem to have on hand. Slippers from the LOFT are the perfect stocking stuffer, and so cute – I wish I had some on right now to keep my feet warm!

After all this holiday shopping for other people, I think I might treat myself to a vintage-inspired frame from Goosefeathers – I am a picture-taking fanatic and am always on the lookout for a good frame. And if anyone wants to buy me the absolutely drop-dead gorgeous heart-shaped diamond necklace from Goldsmith Jewelers…I can’t say I’d be offended!

     Happy holiday shopping!

Aside from listening to Christmas music literally non-stop, eating holiday cookies and drinking hot cocoa, PARTIES are my favorite thing about the Holidays! I won’t lie; I do glitter and sparkles, bright colors and loud accessories year-round, but if that’s not your style, the holidays are the perfect reason to go all out and really shine…’cause it’s the holidays! Can you tell I’m in the Christmas spirit?

We have pulled a few of our most favorite trends for the season together to help you pick out a holiday ensemble that just screams perfection. And that’s not all –  we’ve got your guys covered too. Surely the boys will change out of their team jerseys and/or camouflage long enough to spruce up a bit (especially if mistletoe’s involved!). So read on to see all of these gorgeous things, but be careful, your heart might skip a beat or two!

I am completely obsessed with the sequined dresses and tops at Goosefeathers and Francesca’s. With some black tights and sassy heels – so fabulous. I’m quite hopeful I will be the very lucky owner of this silver sequined Trina Turk blouse at Goosefeathers – but if you can beat me to the punch, then enjoy being the cutest thing at any holiday or New Year’s bash.

As for those of you looking for a little something to say “Happy Holidays!” in the work place, LOFT’s sweet pink and gold sweater set is the perfect amount of sass for any office. And then you don’t even have to change for a night on the town!

If you’re still not totally sure about sequins (it took me a little while), Market has some fabulous alternatives. I love this Parameter shimmery tank/Cooper ruffle skirt combo – and their one shoulder Fumblin’ Foe sequin dress? Sassy and subtle – love it!  Even your tots will be mini fashionistas in Belly & Baby and Hopscotch’s girls metallic dress. So, so cute.

Jewel tones are such a fantastic alternative to the ever-so-predictable red and green holiday attire. Purple is my obsession right now, and I cannot get enough of this purple satin bow mini dress from Julian Gold. What a perfect present (get it? because you’re wrapped up like a bow?)! Market’s one-shoulder peacock dress by Sweetees is divine, and their Cover blue tunic dress with leggings and boots is my drinks-with-the-girls dream come true.

When it comes to accessories, we would never let you be boring! Francesca’s has the cutest clutches to match a sequined OR jewel toned outfit any day. Spice it up with a splash of bright color or mixing textures! Who wants to lug around a huge purse during the holidays anyway? Not me! And for jewelry, Market, LOFT and Chico’s have unbelievable necklaces – the perfect statement piece to top off your holiday ensemble. Layer a couple of uber trendy and must-have ribbon-tied necklaces for a real show-stopper!

Lastly, add that final little somethin’ somethin’ when with this season’s come back color for lips: red! From sulterly dark to poppin’ bright, Francisco’s and Julian Gold have the perfect shade for your skin tone. For that one really big party you’ve been looking forward to all year, book your appointment at Francisco’s for the perfect trim, color or ‘do! Or, add an extra skip in your step with the ever-so-popular bow or rosette headband – the perfect touch of sweetness! And, the LOFT and Francesca’s have tons of them (they are literally overflowing from trunks at Francesca’s!)

For the boys, Goosefeathers has the greatest button-downs, jeans and leather jackets to keep any guy looking super dapper on any occasion.

Happy holidays shoppers, I’ll be back soon!

Christmas is just around the corner – wahoo! Ok, admit it, you’re a little nervous about having your entire family come over for Christmas Eve and/or day because you may or may not have forgotten to put out all the Christmas decorations this year. I feel your pain! Don’t worry though; just zip on over to Lamar Park and pick up a few of our fabulous holiday home décor items – all of only the hottest trends of the season – and you will be set in style. (Major sigh of relief…no mother-in-law making snide comments this year!)

Even if you’ve never physically seen the ahhmazingness that is New York City in December, you most def know it is THE PLACE for holiday décor. The elaborately decorated window displays bring on-lookers from across the globe and all have one thing in common: smart color and theme coordination. Mixing and matching unique colors, like teal and red or metallics and Winter white, and themes like eclectic with a Day-of-the-Dead flair could most def be my fave holiday home décor trend this year! And, you’re in luck – not only does Lamar Park carry all the staples to style out any room, but I’ve also had my eye on these goodies to help you get started:

Metallics are huge this season – I mean, HUGE. Thumb through any of these month’s fashion mags or stroll along the sidewalks of Lamar Park, and you’ll see metallic frocks splashed across just about every page and in just about every window display, from cute gold sequined minis at Julian Gold to sparkling silver baubles at Chico’s to the ultimate wardrobe obsessions at Market and Goosefeathers. But what’s even more fab about this must-have trend is it doesn’t just have be adorned on you! The trend has made it’s way across living rooms and tables as this year’s ultimate holiday décor theme. And it doesn’t just stop at the tree – color-coordinated metallic ornaments strung from ribbons, throw pillows, rugs, candles and vases add glamour to any room!

metallics

Our newest fashion haute, Goosefeathers, is all about metallics and Winter white this holiday with an array of perfectly picked home decor. How about these decorative vases to liven up any coffee table? I will take flowers any day (feel more than free to send some my way…), and I could not think of more beautiful ways to show them off than these fabulous vases. If those don’t strike your fancy, how about some amazing, shimmery silver ones? Throw some tissue paper in the bottom and top them off with gold and silver ornaments, and you have the perfect centerpiece for any holiday party. (Note: spice it up with metallic pink and silver ornaments for a modern twist). The vases are so gorgeous, though, you don’t even need to put anything in them.

Having lots of people tramp in and out of your house might leave an unpleasant scent (who has to live with hunters? Pee-yew), so make sure you pick up a few of these delish (and gorgeous!) candles to sweeten up your home – Winter white with the perfect modern vintage touch! And, last but certainly not least, these matching clay pots are simply stunning with the white roses in them. They would look perfect in any corner of the house, but are also amazing Christmas presents. Who wouldn’t want one of those with a little ribbon wrapped around it under the tree? I certainly wouldn’t be complaining!

For the worldly traveler in you, think outside the box this year with an eclectic theme! Pilar has the most amazing ornaments for tree trimming this year with the perfect Mexican flair – I just want to pour myself a margarita and stand next to my tree smiling at how sassy and unique it is. Add some papel picado as garland or colorful paper flowers, and your guests will be singing Hip, Hip Ole’!

eclecticcollage

The bottom line is the holidays are all about spending time with the people you love most, so if your house isn’t decorated, no one will ever even notice. No, not even your mother-in-law. But for those of you who are giddy about holiday decorating, Lamar Park has everything you will ever need to make your house look stylish and fabulous for the holidays. Happy shopping everyone, have a wonderful weekend!
