Santa Claus will make a special trip from the North Pole to visit all his friends in Corpus Christi just in time for our annual Lighting of the Park!

     A new pre-event to the Lighting of the Park celebration, Belly & Baby and Hopscotch will host a special children’s photography session and portraits with Santa from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1. For $10, your child will receive a portrait session and 5”x7” photo* with SweetPea Photography, with a percentage of the proceeds going directly to the Lighting of the Park’s event charity, the Food Bank of Corpus Christi. Reserve your child’s spot today by calling (361) 991-2540 or visiting Belly & Baby and Hopscotch!

Your family has been invited, the menu has been planned, the hostess outfit has been chosen (or not, I’ll be in sweats, I’m sure) – You are r-e-a-d-y for Thanksgiving. Or are you? Need a little help getting those last few details together for the best.holiday.ever. (because when else can you stuff your face to no end without feeling the least ounce of guilt)? Never fear, Lamar Park is here! 

     Consider us your Thanksgiving HQ (yes, that’s Headquarters for short) – We’ve got you covered from the roasting pan for your turkey to the hostess gift for your in-laws to that last-minute pie you spent all day “baking.” I’m sure Steve and Alyssa wouldn’t mind sharing the credit.

Sample the amazing coffees, teas and Chai while you’re shopping, and you might even want to pick up some flavored Fall blends to snap you out of your soon-to-be food coma. And don’t forget to ask the experts! Both Georgia and Michelle have a lot of cooking experience and are more than happy to help with any of your dreaded Thanksgiving woes. 

     If you’re not the expert baker that we all wish we could be, don’t fret. Special for Thanksgiving, Small Planet has made-to-order pies available (cue arms lifted to the heavens in thanks). With a $5 deposit, the world is at your finger tips…or, rather, the world of pies. And by that I mean, apple, banana foster, banana cream, caramel fudge, pecan, cherry, key lime, orchard harvest, pumpkin, pumpkin butter cream…Somebody stop me!

     Last but certainly not least, if you’re traveling this Thanksgiving, don’t forget to pick up the perfect hostess gift! This year’s Lighting of the Park is THE holiday premiere event of the season!

I wish there were some way to type out a little jingle as a precursor to this announcement, or provide dancing snowmen or something to explain my excitement for this event. You have to understand, being a non-native, I don’t make it down to Corpus all that often, but I NEVER miss the annual Lighting of the Park event! Lighting of the Park is the premiere event at Lamar Park and my own personal favorite. Mark your calendars now from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 – there simply is not a better time to get a head start on all your holiday shopping! You will find something for everyone at Lamar Park, so please join all of the merchants for live entertainment, refreshments and fabulous food – Let’s ring in the holidays together!

As if that weren’t enough, Merchants have donated merchandise for an amazing gift to be raffled with the proceeds benefitting the Food Bank of Corpus Christi.  Tickets may be purchased today through that evening at any Lamar Park merchant for only $1. I am counting the days!
